View Full Version : Update from Aptera: Test drives, tours, and charging

Since it had been a couple months since the tour/test drive rumor was posted on the board, I contacted Aptera and asked about it. Here's what Emily stated in response:

We very much appreciate your enthusiasm, however, tours will not be available until operations are in place in our manufacturing facility and test drives will be possible once production begins. Unfortunately, I am not able to provide a specific timeframe for availability, but we will alert Aptera family members when the time comes.

I'll take this to mean "end of the year". :P So, for those hoping for test drives and tours this summer, as the earlier thread suggested, don't hold your breath.

I also took the chance to see if there were any updates about charging:

As we near production, we will have more information on the availability of additional options, such as having the option of charging in additional outlets.

That's basically what they said before -- that it's under consideration, but they can't say yet what will be available.

Just thought I'd share!

Something's starting to stink, and it's not the litter box.

Wouldn't that suck if all this was a farce? Indeed. Don't get me wrong, I :love0002::love0002::love0002: the idea of the :aptera:, but honestly certain aspects of recent (and past) developments are making me glad that I'm not going to have the option to be a 1st Gen adopter.

I'm usually NOT a 'first adopter' due to my parents horrible experience with a first gen VW Rabbit.

BUT...I bought an iPhone the day they came out and couldn't be happier. With today's technology, I think a lot of 'yesterday's' problems will not rear their ugly head.

I will happily be an early adopter for the Aptera.

No worries.

I have to admit that I find it quite amusing that Aptera is limiting sales (and deposits) to California residents. I can think of a couple reasons for that. ;) and no, the support network isn't one of them.

I want this to work, but like I said, I'm glad I'm not going to be a 1st Gen adopter.

I would not get too paranoid over the issues you are having with Aptera.
I would think that if they were going to rip everyone off for their deposit money that they would have accepted deposits from the entire USA, CANADA
AND EUROPE.:jumping0007: Dont lose any sleep over it.

Me too....Being in San Diego, I was also afraid that I will have to purchase an Aptera when it just comes out. Now hybrids coming out almost a year after first produced Aptera, I am bit relieved.

Also I noticed, some people here expect way too much from Aptera or give way too much credit to the company(to the best of our knowledge they have only one working prototype). This is a start-up company that might radically change automotive industry. There are going to be several bumps along the way. I even expect 2008 delivery schedule to slide another 6 months.

Ahh, but you miss the obvious! By only accepting deposits from California there's no interstate fraud issues which means no federal penalties, only state ones which tend not to be as harsh.

I really think you should not worry about any fraudulent action in regards to Aptera.

I do believe that you might have been over ionized which can bring on severe headaches and fits of paranoia.

DO NOT STAY IN THE IONIZATION CHAMBER LONGER THAN 15 MINUTES!!!:rolleye0003:
