I hope I'm not violating anything by posting this here, but it seems important for the Aptera community at large (though all the Typ-1e reservation holders should have gotten this, apparently.)

Subject: Letter to All-Electric Reserve List, June '08
Date: June 19, 2008 11:57:27 AM PDT

Dear Aptera Family,

This letter is being sent to all of you who are on the reserve list for an Aptera. As you all know, our goal is to start production end of 2008 of the all-electric Aptera, initially in very limited volumes, gradually ramping up production through most of 2009. This will permit our designers and engineers to focus all their energy and resources to ensure the driving experience of the first Aptera owners meets or exceeds all expectations.

I also want to announce a change to the numbered reservation system. You currently have a reservation number based on reservations for both the all-electric and the plug-in hybrid as we receive them. We think it will be much clearer if we separate these reservations into t wo lists simply because the two variants have different manufacturing start and first delivery dates.

Before this change goes into effect, we want to give people who have reserved a plug-in hybrid the opportunity to switch to the all-electric and potentially be driving an Aptera a year earlier than they would otherwise. Our plan is to separate the two lists on July 31, 2008 to give those who reserved the plug-in hybrid plenty of time to make a choice. After that you will receive a new reservation number based on the all-electric production schedule.

I want you to know that we are making remarkable progress with the development of the Aptera. We are on our schedule to meet end of the year deliveries to our first customers. We will be communicating with you regu larly in the months ahead to keep you informed of our progress, performance testing results and product introduction plans.

Aptera is creating an unbelievable amount of interest and excitement from around the world, and we continue to attract investors. But what we value most is you. You will be the first owners and drivers of what we think of as a radical new idea in personal transport. An answer loud and clear in a world of sky rocketing gas prices and carbon overload.

Thank you for being there with us from the very beginning.

With great respect,

Steve

and a similar letter to plug-in reserve list

Dear Aptera Family

This letter is being sent to all of you who have reserved the plug-in hybrid Aptera. As you all know, our goal is to start production end of 2008 of the all-electric Aptera, initially in very limited volumes, gradually ramping up production through most of 2009. Our designers and engineers are focusing all of their energy and resources to ensure that the driving experience of the first Aptera owners meets or exceeds all expectations. We will shift our engineering efforts to the hybrid version early this fall in order to bring it to the market by the end of 2009.

I also want to announce a change to the numbered reservation system that will make timing and delivery much clearer to all of you. Right now you have a reservation number based on reservations for both all-electric and plug-in hybrid as we receive them. We think it will be much clearer if we separate these reservations into two lists simply because the two variants have different manufacturing start and vehicle delivery dates.

Before this change goes into effect, we want to give you the opportunity to switch to the all-electric and potentially be driving an Aptera a year earlier than you would otherwise. Our plan is to separate the two lists on July 31, 2008 to give you plenty of time to make a choice. After that you will receive a new reservation number based on late 2009 plug-in hybrid commencement of production.

As you consider your options, you should know that the performance of the all-electric Aptera far exceeds that of any other electric vehicles currently available. The Aptera all-electric will have up to three times the range of the best electric vehicles in the market, the same responsive acceleration as the plug-in hybrid, the convenience of recharging from any standard 110v outlet, and the sheer pleasure of never again having to stop at a gas station!

If you compare the two drive options, the only difference is that the plug-in hybrid has a gasoline-powered generator that kicks in automatically to keep batteries recharged. This gives you incredible range potential, but no difference in acceleration or general driving performance compared to the all-electric. In fact, unless you regularly commute more than 100 miles per day, the all-electric may be a good choice to meet your needs.

Should you decide to change your reservation from plug-in hybrid to the all-electric drive option, please email family@aptera.com stating your name and current production slot number.

I want you to know that we are making remarkable progress with the development of the Aptera. We are on our schedule to meet end of the year deliveries to our first customers. We will be communicating with you regularly in the months ahead to keep you informed of our progress, performance testing results and product introduction plans.

Steve

I think these guys have scripts that they just go off of. Emily sent me almost the exact same thing when I switched from hybrid to electric.

When I switched from the (h) to the (e), this is what Emily sent me:

Hello,

Sounds great! I have made note of the change on our records.

Thanks again,

Short. To the point. I like it.

Form letters. That's not unusual.
