Aptera Typ-3 anyone? ;)
Found here (http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8805).

Looks like a space ship with training wheels. I'll stick to the Aptera.

lol, I'm pretty sure you mean “I'l stick with the Aptera.”
Spaceship + training wheels > Small plane – wings :)
Also, it looks like the training wheels retract at speed.

All this and it's only..............$3mil

Yes, quite an insane price and out of the majority of the public budgets.

And special order! In 3 years!
Probably has something to do with the fact that it's packing 750 hp and uses mostly carbon fiber and titanium construction…

Which model Aptera have you ordered? I debating switching to the all electric. Currently, I'm number 1434 in hybrid position.

I'm in another state, so none.

You can easily improve mpg by a large margin even over an Aptera if you're willing to make one seaters (or, to a lesser extent, tandem two seater), use very expensive materials, or ignore safety.

For me, safety cannot be compromised. I'm glad Aptera is so concerned as well.

Bummer. Maybe you could use a friend's address in California and reserve a position?

Hah, how did I know you'd start with that line again.
Ignore the car for a second. Do you really think that every other car design is inferior to Aptera Motors'? Cause it seems to be your knee-jerk reaction to anything that challenges your belief in Aptera's superiority. It's somewhat… alarming really.
Personally I think the body design is beautiful, not to mention highly aerodynamic (much more so than Aptera's, certainly). Shows what we missed out on when Steve went for a side-by-side layout.

I've thought about it, actually. Don't know anyone well enough to pull that off though.

Since when is saying that other designs can get better mileage calling them inferior? Talk about knee-jerk reactions.
Quite honestly, if Aptera offered a tandem two-seater with sufficient cargo space, with the same stability and safety, I'd be tempted to pick the tandem (for the efficiency). I wouldn't pick a vehicle they made, however, if they improved mileage by doing what I felt was a compromise on stability/safety or if they used materials that priced it out of my budget. Call me crazy for that why don't you.

I dunno, when you read the whole comment? You, of course, didn't address my question. It's really one for introspection though…

I figured that pointing out that I was *complimenting* other designs effectively answered your question.

Fair enough. (strange way of complimenting though)
They've got a cool website you should check out. Their emphasis on 'individuality' in long-range transportation is (imho) misguided, but their emphasis on efficiency certainly isn't.

Since you've read more about this one than me -- do they have any sort of active stability control? I'd be relatively comfortable with one if they did, but wouldn't be comfortable if they didn't. Of course, given the price (thanks to the materials and low-volume production), it's way out of my range, so it's kind of a moot point as far as my particular interest. I'm just curious ;)

I've mentioned about the Acabion way back here:

Most of my 3-wheel designs have been tandem since I saw the Messerschmitt as a kid and was impressed at the packaging. Also helps with frontal area and left/right suspension balance on a light-weight tadpole.
