Did you want an answer simpler than "Yes"? :)

Most of the world isn't warming very fast, but the Arctic is warming like crazy. And that's bad, because pack ice is a great solar reflector.

Which apparently in turn further accelerates the burning of the pack ice, further melting it and further reducing solar reflection and therefore further accelerating the burning of the pack ice, further... you get the point.

Plus, it supports the Atlantic current that brings warm water up north, keeping us from being Siberia. Get your parkas ready - we might not need A/C in the Typ-1.

More accurately, it keeps London from ending up like Warsaw (about the same latitude), and keeps the Carribean cooler than it would otherwise be. The whole world wouldn't end up colder; only the UK and Iceland, for the most part, and this would be offset by a hotter Carribean.

Also, conveyors shutting down due to global warming is still very controversial, and none of the computer models show any part of Europe cooling faster than global warming heats it. It's just a possibility to keep in mind.

That's the most thoughtful reflection of a different opinion I've heard. Thanks, Karen :)
