I'm sure we've noticed the increasing amount of spam on this website. A few suggestions to help:
1) Captchas: For anyone who's not familiar with them, these are the graphical version of text that pop up on some websites that you have to type into a blank in order to continue. These should, bare minimum, be part of new account registration. In an extreme case, they can be required for every post. More moderate alternatives include having a user's first ten or twenty posts have captchas, or having the admins "whitelist" users who've been taking part in the discussion so that they no longer need to enter Captchas.
2) Spam blacklist: You can get a good one from the MediaWiki site. It's just a list of IPs that you permanently ban.
I run several wikis, and the combination of these two has proven extremely useful.
