How many messages do I have to post to become a regular member? Or is there some other hoop to jump through?

As a JUNIOR MEMBER we will continue to ignore and mock your posts until you reach the incredible post count of "30" (just kiddin' around!).

Click on "Member List" and then sort the members by "Post" count to not only see the tiers of membership, but also see the members that are truly fanatical... whew!

You start as a "Junior Member" - nothing to do with your age.
After 4 or 5 posts, you may include links, etc. in your posts.
At 30 posts, you become a "Member", and at 100 a "Senior Member".

Thers are under 100 "Members" but about 500 (out of 1700 total)
who have posted at least once.

Currently there are only 38 "Senior Members" (with over 100 posts).
Of these, 13 are over 200, 2 over 500, and 2 over 1000 posts.
Karen is the most prolific, with over 1800 posts.

Thanks to all who contribute, and also to those who visit and read!

Thanks Gary!

I searched for "junior" in the FAQ and didn't find it anywhere. Where did you learn it? By deduction from looking at the member list? Unless it is already available (someplace where I couldn't find it) I suggest that this be added to the FAQ section even though it doesn't appear to be that frequently asked. :)

Observation and Deduction, dear Wats... oops, randyd.

Early on, I had the same questions, and some experience
gave me the initial answers.

Now, I see that examination of the Members List reveals most.

My 30'th post. Will this push me over the top (or rather, out of the bottom)?

EDIT: YES! I am no longer a Junior member!

On graduating from juniorhood do I get to upload larger files? Limit for me (16 posts) is 39.1KB - in response to earlier discussion I drew an aptera with a reoriented rear mirror, but can't upload it.

Hi ApteraH@3535-

I don't believe your upload limit will change when you "graduate" to a full Member (vs Jr Member).

What I would suggest is find a photo site like Flickr to host your image, then link to that image when you post here by using the little 'mountain and sun' icon ("Insert Image") above the text input window (where I'm composing my message right now).

Flickr accounts are free... and then, by hosting the image yourself it will appear as a "live" image in your post and not require the reader to 'download' your image to see what you are talking about.

I would suggest keeping your images to less than 500 pixels in their largest dimension so they do not show up too big in your post. If you need additional help please let me know...

I was demoted from "Senior Member" to "Member." Doesn't seem right.

Your check didn't clear.

And we already talked about paying in "all pennies".

:wavey:

(in all seriousness, I have NO idea why your status changed)

I am a member of quite a forums and this type of status causes more controversy than just about ANYTHING else in a forum. I have seen good forums TOTALLY RUINED by those competative types trying to get to the top of the posting heap by just posting to add numbers so they can move up instead of adding to the forum's content! The CONTENT IS why most people come to a Forum to read.

BEWARE OF THE DOUBLE EDGE SWORD... & PLEASE DON'T TAKE THIS PERSONAL!

I am NOT a Aptera company Rep BUT I DO CARE about this forum!

The ADMIN has changed the 'levels' of posting required and renamed some of the levels as well.

Nothing more. All members are under the same level-system...no one was singled out.

Post counts are just for fun... don't take it too seriously, here's what I see so far with the new tiers:

<30 = Tadpole

30+ = Junior Member

300+ = Aptera Fan

500+ = Aptera Rocks!

1000+ = Obsessed Aptera Nerd (I think... only Gary has this title!)

Tiers subject to change! Brian (admin) is open to suggestions, so let him know what you would like...

We have to have a better title then Junior Member for those of us between 30 and 300 posts.

My suggestion, more along the lines of "Post counts are just for fun":

<30 = Junior Member
30+ = Member
300+ = Aptera Fan
500+ = Aptera Forum Fan
1000+ = Obsessed Aptera Nerd (I think only Karen deserves this title!) :)

I was demoted from "Senior Member" to "Member." Doesn't seem right.

Same case here. This year started with Senior Member status and within the past two weeks I've been dropped to Member and then today down to Junior Member. I'm not sure what the point of all that was, but since it is all just for fun anyway why was anything changed? There must have been some motivation to make a change by someone. Of course only folks with unchanged moderator status (huge numbers of posts) can revise anything here; so now the 'calming' and 'don't take offense' posts are coming from them. And look how long this thread has gotten in a short period of time. WT...

if it is "just for fun", then just make us all various "disney princesses" and call it a day!

:D

(sorry - that's what i did on the board that i admin... lol)

What's the point of demotions except to piss people off? I know this is a trivial matter, but we're just here to share our enthusiasm and (sometimes limited) expertise with the forum, and commiserate over our more-than-a-year-delayed car. Why strip the credit the members get with their little titles?

Can one of the admins please explain the point of being demeaning?

Translation: we need more tiers. :) Being Junior from 30 to 300 posts is a pretty long time to have a diminutive term like that, ne?

This discussion seems silly to me. Why the change in the first place?

Keep trying, there seems to be a "blind eye" to a very clear question. I don't think this is addressing it though:

let me clarify. i meant:

where is the new level? at 100 or 150 or 200???? But apparently it's not a new level, just a different name for the same level....

There is also an Aptera Fan classification. Not to mention an administrator and an administrator who is also a junior member. Now that doesn't make much sense. How does a junior member qualify as an administrator? Is it because the position requires no experience? lol !! There aren't many Aptera Fans listed - does that mean most of the posters are for some other means of getting around town? As in - he who is not for me is against me? How many posts does it take to become a Grand Poobah?
