Surprised Aptera wasn't mentioned. Hopefully because they are moving forward unlike some of these others?

This so called "Industry Expert" Lawrence Ulrich is part of the problem. Just saying that electric cars don't work is very short sighted. I just qualify this guy as someone of the old age IE's. We need new people with fresh idea's and a realistic eye to the future that's electric.

:rolleye0003: Don't know if this has been reported already. Got back from Vacation and thumbed through my Jan 09 Car and Driver Magazine, page 29.
Min E Cooper. One Year leases of the New Mini will be offered to a select few customers in California, New York, and ( New Jersey?) Under the hood of the Mini E is a 201 hp electric motor making 162 pound feet of torque. It's fed by a 35 kilowatt hour lithium-ion battery pack that takes up the space where the rear seats used to be. Mini claims a range of 150 miles, a 0 to 62 mph time of 8.5 seconds, and a top speed ( governed) 95 mph. Mini E customers will be able to charge a a fully drained battery in 2.45 hours using a high amperage wall box that comes with the care. Don't get your hopes up-Mini has plans for only 500 cars in the project. ( bet that if it cost lest than 30k that 500 number for production could increase after a few hundred Aptera's go flashing around the country):aptera:

No way they're spending less than 30k to make that car.

I bet it will be around 50k at least as well. I would however like to see the charge time for the Aptera be the 2 and half hour they claim here for this mini. That would be long enough for a good movie, so we could stop at the mall on weekend trips along the way going and coming..

I tried to sign up for the Min-Cooper E test. They make you sign up for an $875/mo lease just to be part of the test program.

That's a deposit on an Aptera and change for a movie ;-)
