Just curious. Does anyone know if you can reserve an Aptera Typ1 if you don't live in California? Is it possible to do so, then just have it shipped to the state you live in when they begin selling?

This is a good question. I saw on the CBS8 news video that they mention that you can reserve one, but they did not mention anything about only CA residence being able to do so. I imagine that anyone can reserve one but the facilities and dealerships will first open in California. What happens if your Aptera breaks down and you live in NY? I just don't think it would be practical to reserve and/or purchase one of these until a dealership is located atleast within a couple hundred miles of where you live.

Zeuscar1: I just checked Aptera's web site, and it still isn't possible to reserve one outside of California. The order page explicitly states:

Currently the Aptera typ-1 is only available to those who reside in California. We will work hard to bring this vehicle to the rest of the country and to international customers soon but we can not confidently give a time frame as to when this will occur. We appreciate your patience and would like for you to sign up for our newsletter so we can keep you informed as to when we will begin selling the Aptera in your area.

In fact, the pop-up menu to indicate the state in your address only has California in the list!

Bummer. :( I hate waiting. If I come down to California to visit the in-laws next year, will one of you lucky Apterians take me for a "flight"? :D

Well this is interesting now.

I reserved mine way back before they only allowed California reserves. I wasn't aware they had changed it. I live in the Chicago Suburbs and I reserved mine on October 5th.

Because of the newsletter saying "Even if you cancel your current preorder, you are still on our priority list. ", I did just that.

Now I can no longer find my number, but I think it was 180 or so. I wonder if it's invalid now that they aren't even thinking about outside california. This thing is generating a ton of publicity a year before even coming out, I imagine noone will be able to get their hands on one without a reserve for a long time!

Any other non-californians worried?

I, too, will take you for a spin. Shoot, you can drive it a little, as well :) But if you can, you should mosdef get your in-laws to score one!

*envy*

Now they don't let you reserve unless you are in CA. I've been tempted to tell them I live in Portland, CA. :) Hey, we joke about North North California already.

I guess I'll just have to live with the Aptera Hot Wheels replica for a few years.
