Well I officially will take it upon myself to start an official clock....

Lets see how long it will take to get some updates...Go...tick, tick, tick, tick...

I hope its sooner than later. Today is January 21, 2009.:happy0025:

Really not asking a lot from the Company, someone type of and email a press the send key.

They stated they'd finish by the 16th. On the 16th? An EVcast interview announcing the completion on the 15th. They then told us there would be a newsletter in about a week. So, the logical expected time for the newsletters to start getting sent out would be the 23rd.

I wouldn't expect too much in it since they said so much during the interview with EVCast, although I think it's likely they'll have pictures. And hopefully confirm the Chamber of Commerce 2e showing, and *possibly* announce some more.

The clock is still ticking...that was not an official email from the company.

Just some unofficial hype from a blog.:character0012:

Quoting an official press release.

You can't be for real, can you?

It's an official press release. But your right no email. :)

I too am waiting for an email and more photos...

edit: (the quote was: "and our newsletter is due out next week." so that could have been anywhere from monday to friday. looks like friday. but with that wording, "is due out", well that isn't actually a promise, so i guess it could be longer. i hope not...the last two newsletters where on the 19th (nov and dec), i was hoping that trend would continue. plus a verbal quote on a pod cast isn't really a set-in-stone kinda thing. still i think we will see the newsletter either tonight or tomorrow).

this press release is nice, and information is always good and i am happy aptera is showing the official 2e...

but i don't consider it a replacement for what Steve promised on the EV Cast...an email at the end of the week...

so, yeah for tomorrow!!!

edit....i was wondering why, if this is an official press release, why isn't it up at the Aptera.com site?? mostly i wonder because most people wanting an Aptera will go to that site, not autobloggreen. but then i went to aptera's news page:

http://www.aptera.com/news.php and they don't even have a link to dec's newsletter up yet, which has been hidden on the site since dec 20th...

and the press release achieve is EMPTY....gah

so i gather the aptera.com site is kinda the last place updated...which is kinda different than most sites (updates to the main site gets info up, info spreads to news and web...here the info get first to either web or this forum and then spreads to main site.)

just a quirk of probably spending very little for the webmaster...which is cool for a start up, but still a bit backwards...

time will likely bring some changes to how the aptera site runs as well as more photos and information....

time is the answer...i just forget the question

At least they are consistent, press first deposit holders later. And updating a press release to a site can be done by an Aptera employee in a minute if they had it set up properly.

:)

My electric bill 'is due' on the 25th. It may or may not be there on that day.

:rolleye0003:

Maybe Aptera should start couching their comments in more legaleze:

"And our new newsletter is due out next week (*)

(*) "next week" includes all locations on either side of the international date-line. Financial, environmental, legal, social, religious, political and/or any other reason we can think of may or may not delay said newsletters' production. "OUT" may mean available only to company members (who are covered by NDA's) and not the general public. The term "NEWSLETTER" may or may not refer to any single letter of the English language, and not necessarily a collection of letters. Should Aptera release a collection of letters, these letters may or may not form recognizable words or phrases. Should Aptera release collections of letters that form recognizable words or phrases, these words or phrases may or may not have any relevance to Aptera as a corporation and/or any products the company produces, plans to produce, or may produce."

LOL, whose side are you on anyway, Jimmy?!

I'm not happy about the newsletter not being there yet, but at least I can still hope it will contain 12 hi-res pix of interior and exterior, and all the technical specs. Whereas it will probably show up in the next few days, have the same picture we have analyzed to the last pixel, and a slightly rephrased version of the press release. Just to keep expectations reasonable.:o

If I had to wager, I'd bet on one to two new pictures.

Another day, another whiny ---- comment from emavin.

(this forum frowns on cursing, especially directed toward other forum members...thanks...)

Oh yes, welcome to Atptera Forum.

(And yes, I realise this is hypocritical of me, but I'm sick to death of the attitude here. I find it more than peculiar that Karen is called a "cheerleader" -- from my vantage point she typically simply presents a reasonable view understanding the company perspective. That's not cheerleading. That it's labeled as such simply shows how negative the average attitude is...)

Note also: Yes, I much appreciate that the overall tone and level of discourse here is much better than in many other fora, but it's also the case that in general there seems to me to be much more reason to be optimistic here. That seemingly any and every opportunity to present the most pessimistic perspective and whinge about it is wearing. Instead of enjoying the fact that we have a couple more pictures, that Aptera has given an interview, and has promised test drives in the near future and factory tours in the readily foreseeable future, we're instead kvetching about the fact that a newsletter that was mentioned may be a few hours late...

Sorry mmalc,

I'm just stating the facts, do you have a problem with the facts? It seems that if anyone says anything that does not praise Aptera's communication style someone needs to defend them as though they always have the best intent for deposit holders. Perhaps they do but they don't do a good job of demonstrating that. Praising and defending a company for what it does correctly or well is fine, I do it here as well. Always siding to defend a company no matter how silly or wrong they are starts to become "cheerleading" for lack of a better term.

But not being specific or speaking of my buddy Karen, there are people here who are afraid to say anything negative and are almost brainwashed that Aptera is the be all EV and they are the saints of the EV world (exaggeration) but they act like that. Aptera could send their newsletters and everything else to them after the get the car and they would still think that is ok. My point behind the communication has always been that they do a poor job but they don't need to. This is a fact they prove over and over to their depositors, I could care less if my communications come late, I'm only making the point that it is poor business practice and any person with any business/marketing experience knows this. It's not about confidential this and that it's about execution and professionalism and they are not so good in that dept which happens to be very important at this stage in the game.

I keep thinking of my days in advertising and communications and the lessons learned. I would bet that there are more than a few deposit holders that would not have cancelled if Aptera was better at communicating. Let me be clear, I don't mean giving secrets away, etc, I mean being clear and consistent which goes a long way in calming potential customers during delays, etc.

Perhaps they could have posted that press release on the site? Perhaps they could have a way to alert deposit holders of news when it is out, etc. Don't you think it is silly that people who want to buy the car need to do research to find the newest info rather than the company informing the people who will pay the bills first. I'm astonished at how they don't see this as a priority for prospect retention and building good will and it disappoints me that they have such a great opportunity and yet they do so poorly taking advantage of such marketing opportunities. Lastly, die hard fans don't care about this and they will still buy but many people who have deposits that are not on this forum, etc do notice this stuff. So do investors and others.

I won't wine or bitch at you hypocrisy mmalc and I bet Karen likes being called a youthful cheerleader, just kidding Karen.

Regarding the next letter, since the car is going to the Ted conference and is supposed to now be finished as the first pre-pro model, I see no reason that there should not be comprehensive pictures of the inside and outside unless it's not done or they are handing out blindfolds for the test drivers:) I fully expect more than one picture based on what they have stated so far, I bet most do and I look forward to seeing the new dash so I can bitch about it, or not:)
