digg.com/loading threads?

Does anyone else have a problem loading threads? They all load, but the longer the thread the longer it takes. I've been to plenty of forums and this one takes the longest to load threads, by far.

While a thread is loading it indicates...waiting for digg.com....

Every single post has a digg connection and this seems to bog down the system. I've not seen one post with a digg response to it. Can we just get rid of it?

This forum was much faster 3-5 months ago. I'm not sure when the digg.com was added, but I believe this is what is slowing it down. Some of the threads with 100+ responses takes minutes to open...that is just very frustrating.

I've been to other forums on threads with 1000+ responses that open in just a few seconds.

I hope it is not just me.

Threads load fairly quickly for me (seconds). There are no Diggs on them.

Are you using the greenleaf theme? When you use it the diggs will not load.

I'm currently using the default style. If there is a way around it I'm definitely for that. I did a quick look at the other styles when they were first put on the site in early summer, and then just stuck to the original as I liked it best.

Why does it load in one format and not the other?

What are the other differences that I should know about besides just the color and visible layout which are obvious?

Well there were some issues with the Greenleaf theme. Some threadtools or searchthread menu's did not work but I have no problems using them now.

I have no idea why it doesn't load under the GL theme. Did you try to use the GL theme to see if you got quick loading speeds again?

GreenLeaf and GreenGold seem to load as fast as I would expect. I opted to stick with the GreenGold since it is closest to the default in my view (I realize others may disagree).

Thanks for the information. It is soooo much better now that I don't have to wait for it to load the long threads. There were some threads with 200+ posts that I just could not stand to view due to the wait. In fact the wait was so long that I could not view them using Safari on my iPhone because it would timeout and then reboot the entire OS.

You should probably just get rid of the default theme if you can't remove the digg links from it. Or if you could just have the digg links attached to the entire thread instead of each post in the thread. I'm not sure how all of that works, but I just know that it is painfully slow the way it is now.

edit: if it does get fixed, let me know as I still think I prefer the look of the default theme.

As an moderator I cannot make any changes. I hope that the admin can do something to change it.
