I deleted that post, the forum is going to be a pain to read if we are all going to cross post everything. And it is no news yet until you can find any coverage on the web about it feel free to post it there.

It seems that the Aptera twitter is the communication channel of choice for Aptera at the moment. It's up to Aptera to provide us with information. We can tweet, mail, call, visit etc, but if they do not want to answer we just have to wait it out or speculate. (or complain about it)

Well I don't twitter, tweet or do anything other then check my e-mails from time to time, I find it hard to understand why this company would seem to be so reluctant to satisfy its loyal fans by ignoring there concerns and questions, makes them appear arrogant.

I received an e-mail from Future Vehicles Technology:

"The Progressive Automotive X Prize Foundation have invited FVT along with 11 other competitors to display their vehicles at SEMA."

Anyone know if Aptera will be there too? I can't find anything on the X Prize site about this.

WOW - I really wish I could go now, but it is very hard to take off for a 9 hr drive each way during the workweek event on less than a weeks notice :(

I'm sure it'll be great, but I wouldn't expect to see the production version at this point...

AAPEX and the SEMA Show are for the trade-only!
The following categories do not qualify to attend:

• Consumers

Bummer  One of these days I'd actually like to see the Aptera.
Seems pretty dumb to be a deposit holder on something I've never even seen before - doesn't it? Especially with so little official information coming out. :(

I'm a deposit holder specifically because it's unlike anything I've ever seen before :-)

I was lucky enough to see a prototype at Palm Springs...but it seems the design's all changing so you've seen as much of the current model as any of us, I think!

Not dumb at all...very smart, if they deliver.

According to Progressive X-Prize SEMA album on Facebook, Aptera brought the old prototype (the one with license plate 69817).

I guess this is the horse they will run for the X-prize. Makes sense, I guess... few of the other competitors have anything but a prototype and this one is well tested. Its a safe move and still positions Aptera well for the win. I'd think that rigorous testing of the production version must be done in-house only, to prevent any potential embarrassment.

that's photoshopped...

;)

on a serious note, sigh, i will miss that sweet front end and rounder sides...that is a sexy car right there...

not that i expect the production model to be a dog, i expect it to almost look as good as that one...

You might note that this is a manufacturer's license plate, so it is likely that they can legally move it from vehicle to vehicle as they choose. We have 'dealer' plates like that so that dealers can take unlicensed cars on test drives. If we could catalog them correctly, you can tell by details like how many LEDs on the license plate, wheel pant reflectors, location of Aptera logos, camera fin, etc.

You're right. In fact, they have multiple plates with the same number!

Nevertheless, it's an old prototype. PP4 I think? Black seats and white mirrors (PP6 has green seats and black mirrors). Clearly not the new design.

Same as the one in this picture:

Are they allowed to do that under X-prize guidelines? That is, go into production with a different model from the one entered into the competition.

OK this really says it all about the Apters team, I spent the hole week at SEMA, I made several trips to the Aptera booth to talk to any Aptera staff, They were no were to be found, I asked all the other contenders if they had seen any one from Aptera and none of them had, I asked the X prize staff and they said NOPE!!!! they just dropped off the car and left, I think this is a clear example of arrogance and a lake of interest in the people who may want to be customers, I even waited around till long after all other contenders had taken there cars out at the end of the last day and still no one from Apter showed up, there was a number of people from the other teams to talk to, and some neat stuff there, The FVT team was well represented by 6 people from the company and they had an awesome looking car, Even thou I found the Aptera to be well made and a real nice job, I am very disappointed in there carelessness and lack of interest for not having any staff at the show. or is it possible they just can't afford to pay one staff member to be there????, ok yes I'm bitching but man I am pissed for going all the way there to meet the guys from Aptera just to find they don't care enough to be there

hhmmm maybe there just afraid to be confronted by people trying to find out what's going on or why they are not ready to deliver

I like everything I've seen from the FVT folks so far. And I have gotten updates via newsletters from them. If Aptera doesn't clean up their act soon, I will cancel my reservation and just wait until after the X-Prize to decide. I don't mind bad news. But I am really getting fed up with no news. It really doesn't take that long, to put out a quick 1 page e-mail to deposit holders once a month. Nothing is not acceptable.

FVT has returned from the SEMA show in Las Vegas feeling more confident than ever. Not only was this one of the best car shows we have attended, it was also the first "summit" for all 43 X-Prize teams. Twelve teams displayed their vehicles at the show so it was our first chance to get a close look at the competition.

All of the vehicles at the show had a common theme. They are using off the shelf drive components - something that FVT tried years ago before deciding to develop our own system from the ground up. FVT knows the systems currently available therefore we also know the performance and efficiencies of those systems.

More than ever we are convinced that our custom drive system will be one of the premier drives available globally. This was reinforced by numerous companies from as far away as Europe and Australia that approached us wanting to know more about our high performance electric drive system for their projects.

FVT's multi-prong approach of building the eVaro and dozens of new "under-the-hood" technologies separates us from most EV companies internationally. We just can't bring ourselves to build the car of the future with antiquated parts.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Shame that Aptera staff weren't even there. Registration number below has been cancelled. I'll wait and see how the x-competition goes now before deciding what Electric Vehicle to buy.
