I missed it. Why did this car get disqualified, or did they just pull out?

Nothing in their blog, I couldn't search any mention here (that wasn't hidden in a 20 page thread). Their website shows evolution of product and vehicle platforms. Hmm......

You can register at the forum at forum.loremo.com but things are not looking pretty. A couple of weeks back I took a testdrive in the Loremo and took tons of pictures, look at them here. They pulled out of the x-prize because of funding and the fact that there is no diesel version at all at the moment, just an EV with Pb batteries and a 100V system.

Mister Sommer has left Loremo and many people think the Loremo is dead, even people who have followed the project from the year 2000. They are on the teamlist of the zero race see it here: http://www.zero-race.com/en/teams/

Hmmm, I just realized that the founder of Loremo was ousted very recently, and now the founders of Aptera have (probably) been ousted... Hmmm.

Haven't you heard? It's the latest style trend! ;) Nobody wants to be the last one on the block to oust their company's visionary and founder.

Loremo is completely dead so it seems.

It seems the Green Loremo, the one I took a test drive in is being confiscated by Jörn Moldenhauer because Loremo did not pay him for his services. Read more about it here:

Sad really.

He also says he want to auction it. That would be cool. But I know it's in really bad shape and no way you can use it as a daily driver.

It seems they are not completely dead but hanging on by a thread.

Ideas are easy.
Building a prototype isn't that hard.
Building a profitable company is a bitch.
At each level of the above statements you have to add skills.
A lot of people think if I only had enough money I could totally do that. I don't think that is the case. I think it is a perfect example of Dunning Kruger syndrome. They don't know enough to know how much they don't know. There have been so many rich and famous people who have tried and failed to run a NASCAR team. They come in with much fanfare and cash. Perform badly for a few years and then pull the plug. The exceptions are few and far between. Joe Gibbs is one of those.
I think the the ability to pick people who have the skills you need and the personality to work with the team is one of the most important. Just as important you need the humility to fire someone you hired if it turns out you were wrong. You have to be able to spot this early befor they do too much damage. As the team gets bigger it gets harder. On a small team you can manage everything but as it gets bigger you have hand off control to middle managers. If you don't pick good middle managers the whole thing will fail. But even on a small scale it can fail if you have the wrong people. If you aren't an expert in every part of your buisness just one iffy employee feeding you iffy information can eliminate any hope of success.

Da haben Sie recht. Aber ich kann auch ein bisschen Deutsch verstehen. :happy0025:

Or I would have been called "Matthias"! :)

I wished my German was a lot better. My mom is German but never spoke it to me when I was little. I feel very connected to Germany for some reason. I saw some latest numbers on added solar power installations for last month and it is truly booming! 1667 new solar installations per day! :doublethumbs: 1.7 GWp new capacity last month and 3.4 GWp new capacity for the last 6 months!

And here in the USA we fall further and further behind, and gasoline and diesel use actually went up this last quarter. We are consuming more and more each day.

All the while the United States senate plays partisan politics, and denies all change. Gotta love it!

Oh well... R.I.P. Loremo. I, like you Matthijs, followed Loremo for quite a long time. Sad to see it end like this.

Another one bites the dust...

Thanks butter. Yes he is. But I knew he'd understand. ;)

I just got a copy of Josh Tickell's 2010 movie "FUEL". About 23 minutes in, there's a quick snipped of video with this voice-over: "In Germany an independent car company called Loremo just produced a diesel car that gets over 150 miles per gallon."

I hope Loremo gets another chance.
