Hello,

The good folks over at AutoBlogGreen have driven a pre-production Chevy Volt, and they are (apparently) the first journalists to drive it with the ICE running:

not bad...and it has gotten a bit better looking...

if the aptera "vaporizes" i might get a volt...

99% of the time i am driving less than 40 miles in a day, so the volt would in essence be an all-electric for me...

An all-electric that still needs oil changes and other ICE service, even if the ICE is only used 1% of the time.

I have nothing against hybrids, but most 2+ car families only need one. The rest could usually be BEVs.

Popular Mechanics has now also driven the Volt, and they have a video that explains the reason for the change in the charging scheme: they want you to return home with an "empty" battery so you will charge it there, where it is the most efficient.

Same here, the ICE part is making things needlessly expensive and complicated for me. And as for looks...

And I'd be more than happy to have a car without any small whining children in the back. Been there, done that.

If this does become one of the more realistic options a year from now, and that is certainly possible, I'll say that the future ain't what it used to be.
