Thought it might be amusing to see what such a bunch of forward thinkers are currently driving...list all the vehicles in your family unit, anything that rolls. I feel much better about this since I recently got rid of a 36ft RV....

There's a huge thread just like this, back from the dark ages of the forum (I don't have the time to dig it up right now, as I'm just taking a quick break from debugging my app)

I've been keeping this one alive. This photo is the day I drove my 200,000th mile on it. The odometer was reset to 0 in '96 after I bought it and had it customized.

http://www.ericlane.com/pages/alb_beefaru/beefaru_website/images/200k/200K_portrait.jpg

Its a 1988 GL-10 with the following: engine/computer from a wrecked '96 outback, a dual range 1987 3.07 transmission dropped to outback 4.11 and fitted with a tall 5th gear from a forester, limited slip diff, 2 inch lift, replaced 13" rims with 15" peugeot, dual battery system to run mobile office/fridge during catastrophe work, and some other stuff I'm probably forgetting.

It's been to more than 20 states, 4 wheeled on colo. trails, hauled music gear to countless gigs, and generally been a fantastic machine.

I had it re-painted in 2006 after 10 happy years. I had money to get another car, but it was far too easy to "recycle" this one and wait for the next revolution in transportation.

Still waiting Aptera.....

Rather than listing my rides, which I did the last time this thread came around, I think I'll go ahead and list Paul's and Marques' rides (that I know about).

Paul:
* A new BMW (sorry, I don't know which model)
* A bright orange SSR

Marques:
* A BMW that still has Michigan plates.

Honestly, driving BMWs doesn't sound very Detroit-friendly to me, but hey. At least the SSR is a Detroit car -- and living proof that at least *someone* bought one! ;) (the SSR is the unpopular "sports pickup truck" that helped bring down ASC, one of Paul's earlier companies)

Is there going to be a "list how many houses you have" or "list how many states your immediate family lives in" thread? :)

You have 20 days to get that changed (California plates) once you have legal residency in the state. This can be a tricky legal issue (when are you really a resident), but I believe he spent more than 50% of his time (for 2009) in California, and he is drawing a paycheck from a California based company. Pretty sure he is considered a resident.

What if you have multiple houses in another state (yes, multiple)? ;)

Just for reference -- I found the CA rules for commercial license residency (still haven't found noncommercial), and it's: "Residency is established by any of the following: registering to vote here, paying resident tuition at a public institution of higher education, filing for a California homeowner’s property tax exemption, obtaining a license (such as a fishing license), or any other privilege or benefit not ordinarily extended to nonresidents."

Either way, his car has Michigan plates, whether he's following the law or not. Last time a source checked, at least. I could try to get photos if there was interest.

1989 Acura Integra with about 293,000 miles. It's time for something else.

~1990? Performance Parabola Touring bike - I bought this used 2 years ago. I've put approximately 13,000 miles on it since then. It gets a lot more miles than the car, which I've been using sparingly, waiting for the Aptera.

That's a good thing that they are driving BMW's. They are knowledgeable of the competition that way. BMW being a good choice because of the advanced tech. :aptera:

My car is a Scion xA RS 2.0, that I am averaging at least 50% ABOVE the Combined EPA rating (~+70% in the summer and ~+40% in the winter).

I also ride my Bianchi bicycle a little, and I walk when possible.
