Leaves are supposed to be green, but since it was not a choice I chose a snow covered leaf.

In case anyone missed it, it should be pointed out that these color selections were just a poll in the first place. When (if you decide to) you officially order your car you will make your final color selection at that point.

I chose silver, but if I find out the blue reflects better, I'll change it to blue. I already have a white car, so I didn't want white again, but I did notice a BIG difference (over 30 d.) in internal temp between my dark red celica and my white honda.
Of the two colors, blue and silver (light), which one do you people think would reflect the heat better in this hot, dry, summer sun? Thanks!

I found this information here: http://www.cis.rit.edu/mcsl/outreach/faq.php?catnum=6#866
I am shopping for a new motorcycle helmet and want to know the color's that would keep my head cooler in the sun. Where do colors such as grey or silver fit in as far as reflecting light/heat and staying cooler? (626)
The coolest (temperature wise) will be white because it reflects all the light. A good shiny silver would probably be close. Black will be the hottest and gray will be in between (probably hotter than silver). For colors, it is hard to say because the color might not necessarily correlate perfectly with heat absorption. However, they will all be hotter than white. Red, for example is nearly as hot as black because it absorbs a lot of energy (all the blue and green light and only reflects the red).
If you really want to keep your head cool ... go with white.
I agree that red and black are hot and since I wanted something that stays cool I went for a light color, but I didn't want another white one so I went for the blue, which is a very light blue.

My dad was shocked that the 'Leaf' didn't come in green. So would the difference in efficiency between a light color (silver) and a dark one (black) in a warm sunny area be measurable? Would it reduce the range or shorten the life of the battery any measurable amount?

I'm the only black color chooser? I do live in these frozen hinterlands of Chicago, so, I need the heat absorption. Heh

The black is beautiful...but way too hot for where I live.

I can tell ya the difference between red and white. I had a '90 red Celica with black leather (never again!) In the desert heat, I saw the temp hit 160 inside (even though I always had the windows open a little)...often. With my present white car, the highest was 130, and mostly around 120 on sunny days. Even when I used those window shades, the Celica was much hotter.

White is also the safest color, apparently. My insurance agent mentioned to me once, that white cars have the lowest accident rate. And, I've been told something that would seem to confirm this: darker colors are recessive -- they appear to be farther away than they actually are, so darker colored cars tend to get more dings in parking lots, etc.

Dings just show up more on dark paint...

Over the years I've been told and read many times that yellow is the best all weather color to be seen first and seen as approaching fastest by drivers. White vehicles are seen or are noticed less often and are harder to see in snowy, dusty, foggy and rainy conditions.

I hope the Blue is like the one that they have been showing with the teal green tone.. I do not like the Silver Blue that I have seen in a few pics nearly as well...

In some youtube video descriptions of the tour. I read that the blue color is a show color but that is the only source I got it from so it may not be reliable.
