Haven't read this board or any Aptera stuff in a while. Anyone care to summarize what's happen in the past six months or so?

Ah, so, essentially, nothing's changed for the past three years, still waiting for Aptera to go out of business then?

Pretty much NOTHING has happened in terms of progress since the X-prize debacle which was almost a YEAR ago. Haven't even seen a token newsletter for months, or even a Tweet.

I go by the Aptera Home building in O'side often & I DO see Cars parked in front of the place and some people comming & going. I have NEVER seen any cars being MANUFACTURED there....
I DID see and APTERA driving down Oceanside Blvd last week & ALMOST had a WRECK:scared0008: !!!!!!! It was an ALL White unit and I guess it was a late mule out on a "lunch" Run... I am GUESSING that they haven't NAILED the COFFIN Shut yet, BUT lowering the investors account. :sick0010:

They must be 'turtling' for funding; hunkering down and waiting for some money to come along. I hope they aren't trying for the DOE again..

They've moved again so they are spending money and stimulating the narrow market of "u-haul" movers. According to their latest local press, the DOE is still their saving grace. Finding a new private investor is not their forte so it seems. It's a great idea for sure, but a 30k-40k units a year it is not. In the North County Times is the following statement:

Some "low-level production" in the tens of thousands of cars could happen at the Carlsbad building, Wilbur said.

If it had gone to market as promised, maybe they would have some brand loyalty by now. I still think the 2e or even 4e at 10k a year is borderline insane and I WAS a potential buyer. C'est la vie!

For a little perspective on these numbers check out this story from the San Diego Union Tribune.
http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/2011/may/11/corvette-muscle-gm-spend-131m-prep-kentucky-plant-/
Sales of Corvettes Jan-Apr was 4,293 units. Thats just over 1,000 a month or 12,879 for 12 months.
On the other end of the scale is this story on the Leaf.
http://local.signonsandiego.com/news/2011/feb/17/nissan-track-build-250000-leafs-year/?cars
They are talking about 250K units by 2013.
