View Full Version : Another dropout...
I was one of the holdouts.... but finally gave up a couple of months ago. I requested a refund right before the "everyone's getting a refund" email. Got my check without any hassles.
Driving an EV as my daily commuter car every day now. Splurged on a demo-unit 2010 Tesla Roadster 2.0 Sport and am loving it.
Sorry the Aptera didn't work out... maybe someday.
All the best to the folks I've met through this board. And to the Aptera employees I had gotten to meet along the way. It was fun and I hope for good things for the company and for the people who worked hard on this.

Now that's a beauty. I would love to own one but it's out of my price range. I'm really considering a Model S (possibly a used one) however. Good luck, Josh.

I'd love to have a roadster but can't justify the cost. I do have a deposit on a model s and I'm hoping my tesla stock pays for it. Stocks back down to where I paid for it. Time to double down.
Glad to see you are driving electric. Thanks for all your very informative posts here along the way. Particularly the inside info you seemed to have had along the way.

Feeling grumpy so I have to say it. So much hype over what is essentially an EV conversion. A very nice one but $100k each and over $100 million to get them done?
So how many do they have to sell to break even much less turn a profit?
Sigh.

Hey, they made some initial units and got them out on the street. Then they got funding to make a more affordable Sedan that seats up to 7 people, with a variety of range options for the battery...
Think of their Roadster as their PP7.5 Aptera.
What's to be grumpy about?

+1 SEGsby. Someone had to be the first to put their toe in the water. Tesla was it. GM credits them with pushing them to create the Volt. Who knows when the Leaf would have hit the streets without the Roadster leading the way. It's a pricey toy for those who can afford it but it led to the creation of the Mosel S. That's the vehicle that will make or break Tesla. My instincts are saying that the Model S will be a huge success. It's price is in the ballpark of a nice Lexus, Mercedes, Audi, Infiniti, and Acura. Time will tell...

Well, yes. That's the core problem with the Team "B" version of an Aptera.
They took a sleek shark and made it into a bloated whale.
That makes me grumpy, too. :(

I understand. The vehicle was terribly overweight and they made themselves look like idiots. But I'm not as disappointed by the final numbers of the S0-1 as I probably should be. If they dumped PBW and suddenly began producing the S0-1, I'd be cheering them on. It's the overfed stepchild of the PP series but I still have a soft spot in my heart for the design... Roll down windows, cup holders, and all... 200ish MPGe, and 100 miles on a charge isn't great but it's still pretty good.
Big sigh...

I was wondering if any one still holding a reservation?
I was having second thought when I sent cancellation request, but not any more. Got 1700 all electric miles on my Leaf, and i'm loving it!
Agree that red Tesla looks better, but i'm kind of person who can't enjoy item, if price paid was unreasonable (prooved to myself on vaction trips too).
Leaf successfully held family of 3 with stroller, crib, beach stuff, food and other items on the way to Oregon Coast, keeping up with traffic over coastal range just fine, 66 miles done and 15 remaining on arrival. Which just prooves Leaf as:
