ZAP busy giving EVs a bad name

I just came across this article in Wired about ZAP and its wonderfully sorted history.

I know quite a few people on here know about them but I didn't know that much. The article was titled Hype Machine which was about ZAP and the people its taken advantage of. Its a pretty long article but a very interesting read.

I'm not saying Aptera is going the same way but it does give an interesting view of what can happen when less then trustworthy people take advantage of those that just want a better future. Hopefully our experiences will be better then those poor souls that just wanted to make the world a better place and instead were met with disappointment at the hands of those shysters.

In the EV world the bums tend to be exposed when the press releases are not supported by demonstrations of the product. ZAP for instance releases press release after press release, never having shown a prototype for Alias, ZAP-X, Obvio, etc. I could only take so many of those before I became skeptical.

Aptera may be a startup, but so far I've seen a lot of videos on Youtube, along with a lot of openness on their website. Granted, it's not quite to the extent that Tesla has gone to with Tesla's blogs, but openness is a plus. So far these guys look legit to me, but ZAP I would not touch with a 20 foot pole. I am not yet a customer of either, but watch with interest.
