I would be interested in a "local" Aptera Owners (and owners-to-be) Group.
One for the Orange County area, or even Southern Orange County
would be a good "local" area. I am located in Laguna Hills.
If anybody is interested in a get together (potluck, etc.?)
somewhere in this area, please let me know.
Suggestions are welcome. I think it would be fun.

Sounds cool. Maybe at a park, so we can draw attention to the Aptera. Make it public.

... and of course we'll need one for us in the San Francisco bay area. :D

Gary,
I would be totally open for that. I am in Northern San Diego County, so getting up to Orange is not so bad. Or we can meet half way, like Mission Viejo or something.

Southern Orange County, not the city called Orange, which is
in northern Orange County.
Mission Viejo is "east" of hwy 5, and Laguna Hills is "west".
Anywhere in this area would be good.
However, my place is not good for a meeting.
Maybe meet at Home Town Buffet (on El Toro Road) for brunch,
at 10 am on Saturday the ... ?
Who else would like to meet in the southern Orange County area?

Fine, leave Ventura County out of it! :D

The APTOG in the southern Orange County will welcome
any kind souls who are able to travel this far. :)

I think Aptera should make a vehicle available (ie. bring one) to one or more of any grass roots meet-ups. That would be pretty sweet.

I would guess we have over 200 reservations in Bay Area.

Well, ... to get things started:
I should be at the Hometown Buffet restaurant on El Toro
road by about 3:15 pm this coming Saturday, 3 May 2008.
NOTE:
If nobody responds here by late Friday evening that they will
show up on Saturday, I will feel free to not show up myself.
If I am the only one there, then this first meeting will be a small one.
However, a few "future owners" would make it more fun.
I would be having "early dinner", in the far section
(past the salad bar, past the main courses, near the deserts)
with an Aptera picture on the table.
Lunch is served until 3:30, so getting there and buying the
buffet ticket BEFORE 3:30 gets you in for the Lunch price.
Then, at 3:30 the prices go up and they start serving Dinner,
which includes barbecue ribs. So, arriving at 3:15, I get both
menus (and the ribs), for the less expensive price.
Senior lunch is $7.29 + tax as I recall, including everything
(and drinks), at the serve-yourself, all-you-can-eat buffet.
There is a fairly wide variety of reasonably good food.
So, come hungry.
Google this: Hometown Buffet Laguna Woods
24381 El Toro Rd
Laguna Woods, CA 92637
(949) 595-0971
Directions:
Take freeway 5 south just past the 405-5 "Y" interchange, and
then get off at the El Toro exit. Go straight at the first signal lights,
and then continue one long block and turn right onto El Toro Road.
Go about another mile, cross Moulton Pkwy, and then turn right
at the first signal lights into the parking lot of Hometown Buffet,
a hotel, and a few shops.

Maybe us people in Northern California should meet up at the Buffett concert in October. :D

I'd be in a Bay Area or South Bay/Penninsula group.
I can imagine the first meet when a dozen or more people drive their Apteras...and afterward everyone trying to figure out which one is theirs!

LOL. Totally right. I think Vinyl designs are going to be the norm on these cars. I already have mine picked out. It will read "300MPG Suckers"

Perhaps you may like to add a comma to make it: "300 MPG, suckers!" Otherwise, the opposite could easily (and grammatically correctly) be interpreted, i.e., "(We are) 300 MPG suckers."
Tee hee..

Man my grammar still sucks after all these years. How is this one "I get 300 mpg, what do you get?"

I have gotten no responses here for interest in the
May 2008 APTOG-SOC meeting, and only one message.
So, there will either be a small meeting, or none.
My reason for HomeTown Buffet: It is close, inexpensive, ...
and they have BBQ ribs after 3:30 on Saturday. :)
I will talk to the one responder and see what is preferred.
Then, in the morning (Saturday), we will decide.
Cheers, Gary

I would be interested, I am in Long Beach.

The May 2008 APTOG-SOC meeting was small (only 2 people),
and "virtual", consisting of a very nice 1.5 hour conversation
on the phone with the other interested person.
I will try again next month, on the first Saturday in June, the 7th.
Until then, interested persons may post here, or "send" a message
to me (by clicking on my user-id).
Suggestions are welcome, and I encourage other groups to form.
For me, it is a lot of fun to get to know about other's interests.

Plan an APTOG meeting for not long after the test drives start (which should be June-ish; I'd expect later rather than sooner). That'll be an easy way to make sure there are lots of people around. I plan to head down to the area for about a week as a vacation when they announce test drives. Figure I can stay with a cousin, visit some national parks, maybe hit the beach, etc.

Gary,
This sat just did not work for me, but I like Karen's idea when the test drives start. I'll be the first one in line hopefully in Carlsbad (20 min away)

I will probably be busy on the first Saturday in June, the 7th.
Also, I have only gotten interest from one person in attending.
So, the June 2008 APTOG-SOC meeting will not happen
on June 7th, but could be rescheduled if and whenever
there is sufficient interest in getting together.

I don't know if we want to start up an owner group. It seems we have a bunch of FERRARI owner here. You know how that is.

Occasionally, I arrange to get together with someone in my
southern Orange County area who is interested in talking
about the Aptera or related subjects (solar power, etc.).
If you want to call me (or have me call you) and chat,
please PM me your phone number.

I like the idea in general. I'd be in the S. Bay/Peninsula group, but I'm not sure I'm quite ready to start meetings/social gatherings about it right now. Maybe when someone up north has had an offer to buy or a test ride, or there has been at least some input from the SoCal folks who have bought.
