This one sounds more real, and seems to use the same type of technology going into the Aptera. It's a PHEV, but it only gets 8 miles on electric only charge. The crazy thing though is it has a 1,000 mile range!!! (More then likely from the larger fuel tank).

Very cool

Here is more info on how to get your PHEV today

Most interestingly it announces Ford Escape as an also easy to convert vehicle. Very cool for me because I am interested in a SuV for camping surfing etc

Google did conversion Priuses. They only averaged around 70mpg, and that was with a much bigger battery. It wasn't anywhere near worth the conversion cost. The problem with a simple battery addition to a Prius is that the electric motor is insufficient for acceleration or highway driving, so you *have* to use gasoline. Hence, they end up using a several times more gasoline in typical use than what GM calls an "E-REV", like the Volt or the Aptera Typ-1h, in which the car runs on pure electric for the first 40 miles or so.
