Default 30/7/2010 - MM says so1 built in 3 weeks

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjIBgQo4ugE

It's worse than we thought. 3 weeks doesn't allow for much testing, hence the crappy results. They can pat themselves on the back for being a finalist

Thanks Plainar!

I also enjoyed the "3000 reservations" comment. Does that figure include cancelled reservations?

roflol!
"Our team built this one in an amazing 3 weeks... from release of Design"
omg!
What have they been doing since their January newsletter when they announced firing Steve, Chris and Dave?, announcing- "We are now just days away from taking delivery of our first design-intent 2-series body from Energetx"

I sure hope they didn't take it down, it is another MM classic. He must have amnesia.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: "Some people don't live in the internet age."

They are stumbling over their own spin. I hope the people in control are hearing this. If it will change anything...

I believe the Edison2 tandem car was 7 days old when it arrived at Xprize. They lost their side by side to a failed $16 part. The lost the tandem to an overrev of the engine when they went for yet un-tried test of "launch control", a complex program that allows for flooring the car, dumping the clutch, and achieving maximum takeoff speed. It's possible a pressed-on gear tore loose in the transmission, or some other possible glitch.

My point is the car was 7 days old and it cruised through all handling, was putting up highest mpg of any edison car, and it was actually the best running edison2 car.

Trying to use short build time as an scapegoat for poor performance doesn't work when another team had far better performance with 1/3 the build time.

I agree, Eric.
However I do question the truthiness of the MM statement that they build that vehicle in three weeks. They had their first body in January, 6 months ago.
If they truly did build this particular car in three weeks, they must surely have built a few more mules of the SO-1 to test subsystems, but nobody reported seeing any other examples anywhere to my knowledge.
It just sounds like a bald faced lie.
