Default Hot Rod Lincoln!

Thanks for the posting. I always like Johnny Bond's version, which I recall as a novelty hit on the radio about 1958. Of course, this was sort of an "answer song" to the earlier hit "Hot Rod Race", about the driver of a new Ford who tried to pass a Mercury in the desert. Having identical motors, neither car could pull ahead. "We was both Ford men so I guess we knew, that we'd race on till something blew". Verse after verse they fly along neck-and-neck, until suddenly a cloud of dust comes up from behind and some kid in a hopped-up Model A dusts them both. "You've heard the story of the hot rod race, when the Ford and Mercury were setting the pace. Well that story is true, I'm here to say, cuz I was driving that Model A" (etc etc).

Default Hot Rod Lincoln (again).

A nice revival, although Cody didn't understand the opening verse's reference to "Hot Rod Race" and changed the lyrics. He has a much bolder live recording with a long amusing rant about what happens after the cops pull him over. Does give some idea what a steel guitar can add to the mix.
I believe there's a whole web site devoted to this song (and similar efforts).

Somebody could write a similar song about a Tesla I suppose, although "the fellas" would be limited to a single passenger.

Thank you. This Speech reminds me of the reason my grandfather gave of why he went to World War Two. He said, "I risk everything I had so that my children's children would not live under a Tyrant Government and they be able to make their own choices on how they want to live their lives."
Happy Holidays everyone.
