Default gyro-stabilized vehicles

I really like the idea too. Can you provide pointers to the previous attempts? I found this blog posting about the Gyro Hawk but nearly all of the links I found about gyroscopically stabilized motorcycles are broken.

This kid's bike is kind of cool. It makes me wish I was 5 again.

I assume that the gyros will induce lean based upon driver and sensor inputs, enough lean to handle all but the most severe emergency. There will always be a limit where active controls "run out of travel". It will be interesting to see how the C-1 handles the limits of their active stabilization.

That's great news! I hope they let you add as much aero to the design as we all know you can.

In terms of positive news on this board over these last couple of years, can there be much better news than the 2 quotes above? I am really excited and hopeful! I like both the LIT and Edison vehicles...

As a long-time Aptera fan, Steve's innovation and then recognition of a visionary designer like JH, makes this news feel like one of 'our' guys done good!

Best of luck on these new projects Jason, I love your work and it's great to have you pop in here to keep us updated.

Default Homebuilt C1?

Hey Daniel Kim!

The folks at Thrustcycle have a working, full size prototype. Two, in fact. What's taking you so long?

Get to work! I want to see videos like these from Lit Motors by mid-January!

P.S. - They also claim that with their stabilization system, the prototype can safely have rear-wheel steering. (I can't wrap my head around why that's either true OR a good thing, but there you go.)

@randyd,

Don't worry...
I had a visit with LIT this past Monday. Solid.

Jason,

Thanks for the reassuring words.

The next time you get invited to visit, can I tag along as your "assistant"?

Thanks for posting the link.

If you search for "Lit Motors" and "Remy HVH" you will find a lot of very similar web postings. It sure looks like Lit issued a press release recently, but I don't see any new information on their web page...

Default Old/New YouTube video

For all you "Lit Heads" out there, I just found an old (but new to me) video on youtube. It was uploaded Feb 17, 2011, prior to the full-size mock up. It's 41 wordless seconds of images of the small model, including some where it is driving itself around the room.

Enjoy!

Default Lit C-1 on Display

Lit Motors will be exhibiting at the Green California Summit this April 26'th and 27'th in Sacrament. The exhibitor floor plan shows them near Toyota and Mitsubishi in the "Green Auto Mall" corner of the hall.

I plan to go. Anyone else?

I wish I could drive up there in my Aptera 2e...
