Aptera had recently committed to delivering the first unit(s) by the end of the year. Did I miss news the contrary? If not, has there been any announcement of a new years eve event for handing over the keys? Only a couple weeks away; this should be an exciting time, no? I would have expected some celebrity tree-hugger types to make an appearance (unless Bernie Madoff wiped them all out).
Sorry if these are old questions - I follow Aptera developments more than most folks but certainly nothing like the regulars here. LTLFTc |

I'm guessing that the first delivery will be at the San Diego Auto Show, December 31. http://www.sdautoshow.com/ ...at the eco-booth.

My guess is that the first delivery will be to Mr. Green, with a wrench, in the ballroom.
(jstdadd: Your guess seems as good as any. Looking at the map, the eco center is pretty big -- only the Chrsyler-Jeep-Dodge area is bigger.)

If this were true would it not have made sense for them to inform deposit holders that they could go there and see the car? |

It would have made sense for them to inform deposit holders about lots of things. But since they adhere to the policy of "not letting a single bit of substantial information slip out" (the number of cupholders excluded), they will not tell us in advance even if the car is there. More likely though, they will consciously avoid wasting time and money on SD Auto Show. Seriously, who'd want to see the first 100-mile range electric passenger car in mass production? There's a lot more interest in retrofitted electric Shelby Cobra.

I don't expect them to attend, I'll be surprised if they deliver a production car even in Jan. I will consider production when someone from the general public is able to choose options and these individuals are being delivered vehicles.

Did anyone catch the comment from the Crysler CEO(?)......that they plan on 'multiple' EV's begining in 2010 and by 2013 include full size off-road Jeeps. They plan on producing 500,000 units per year? How will Aptera be competing at that time against those kind of numbers.

I contacted Aptera and the San Diego Auto Show marketing departments. Aptera isn't on the list of events. But, they could make a surprise showing without telling the public, like they did in Monterey this past summer. |

I have read a little on those vehicles. Besides being electric powered, they have little in common with the Aptera. Still, if Electric powere is the only reason you are buying the Aptera, there are obviously more choices by then.

Yep... Aptera's main advantages are that some of its upcoming competition may no longer exist by then and that it has a year-long head start. I'd personally like to think that it's light, hyper-streamlined design and all of the advantages that come with it will also give it a leg up, but I know not everyone is like me in terms of vehicle preferences.
As for Chrysler -- if they even exist in 2010, the first EV they plan to bring out is the Dodge EV, which is a competitor for the Tesla Roadster, not the Aptera.
