Because he has already been driving one back & forth to work for months. It would be nice to see some paying non-employee who is not under NDA get a 1st Aptera. That way a lot of information could be learned about the vehicle. It is that information that we are really after.

He's been driving a Typ 1e for months (or is that an Mk0, or an Mk1, I get so confused). It would be awesome in my mind for Aptera to have another grand unveiling and let him slip into a brand new Typ 2e for his daily commuter....

Hey I don't disagree that it would be nice if they really did deliver a 2e in December to a paying, non-insider, non-NDA'd customer, non-employee. I just doubt it is going to happen. I also won't consider Aptera to have lied or failed to deliver or broken a promise if they don't.

Hmm, Gary would know this -- what's the lowest registration number we've got in our database? 20 or so?

I'd wager that the lowest numbers are held by early employees and their friends.

For what it's worth, I'm #24, but I don't live near San Diego so I'm really not anywhere near the top of the list.

Default Aptera Closing Shop

Just received an email from the company that they will be closing shop from 12/24-1/04/09.

SHORTENS THE COUNTDOWN CLOCK FOR 2008...

So does the weeklong holiday equate to no first customer delivery this year? I certainly won't fault them for taking a little time off, just wondering if this make it official. Wouldn't have to be the case though, right? They could deliver a car with a smaller ceremony/press event without all the employees having to be there, but somehow I think that isn't happening.

My only beef is don't keep saying you're going to do something even when you know you aren't.

Talking definition of optimism

Definition of optimism, is when a busload of lawyers drive off a cliff....and there were no empty seats.

I think that's a pretty good assumption. It also doesn't bode well for a delivery that there still isn't any pricing available. Hard to deliver cars without any firm pricing.

In any event, production precedes sales, so perhaps they will produce but not sell. Also, delivering your first car near Christmas or New Years isn't a recipe for getting a lot of publicity. Very few people are paying attention so the PR value is severely limited. Even if they were ready to do it, they probably would be better waiting until after the new year.

Personally, since the new head of marketing indicated that production could be expected within a year, I've thought that the operative date for general sales has been changed. Could be wrong of course. I have no inside information. Hopefully they'll at least have some cars to test drive. That would be fun though perhaps too much of a tease for many.
