I have a confirmed test drive of a 2e scheduled for Feb 3rd! Aptera is offering limited slots for test drives at the upcoming TED conference in Long Beach that day and I snagged an early slot just now when they announced the signup list.
I'll report back what it's like and, if permitted, I'll take pictures and/or video. Very excited... If there are a few very specific things members here would like me to check out in detail, please post. I'll do my best. --josh

How exciting! I bet there'll be a few weeks of sleepless nights until the drive! Have you ever driven an EV? I'm interested in the ignition and launch sequence primarily and secondarily how the efficiency meter clues the pilot in on good/bad acceleration activities. And for the power curious folks (me too), what is the pack/motor voltage (I'm willing to wager it's ~180V)?

I wonder if Aptera would object to any of us just watching from the sidelines the test drives and looking at the vehicle?

I should have stated that if the Aptera staff requests that I not post details or photos, I'll respect their request. I don't want to abuse this privilege nor their generosity. I'm hoping that by offering several hundred people at this conference a test drive on the open roads in a busy city, they know and accept that details will emerge and they'll be fine with a reservation-holder and member here sharing the experience. --josh

At the risk of going off-topic here (since you asked!), it's a very inspiring conference on a vast assortment of important and thought-provoking topics. Originally standing for "Technology, Entertainment and Design", the TED conference attracts an amazingly diverse set of speakers who are always interesting... from heads of state to educators, researchers, inventors, CEOs, authors, poets, musicians, artists. The attendees are equally fascinating (and humbling!) You'll find Nobel prize winners in physics chatting with an educator building new schools in Africa... a well known rock star asking questions of an acclaimed mathematician, a famous actresses discussing technology with the founders of Google. My favorite "TED" moment was catching Kareem Abdul Jabar in a conversation with Al Gore, Cameron Diaz and Dean Kamen! It's that kind of interesting group with some otherwise unlikely combinations of individuals that come together to learn from each other. OK, Speculawyer's description was shorter and just as accurate. ![]() Anyway... I agree it's a great place for Aptera to get some exposure. --josh
