Default ***New Photos!*** 1/29/09

Steve Fambro & company were outside my building today giving demos to "local elected officials and their staff" (i.e. not me). While we were asked to keep clear during the event, we were free to watch as they got set up. I've uploaded a few photos to flickr:

New Photo's!

(Given my low number of posts, the forum won't let me include URLs.) Edit: Link included!

This particular vehicle is a pre-production vehicle. It does not have opening windows, and the trunk is different. The trunk lid on this vehicle opens to the side (though they wouldn't open it to show), but the final vehicle opens the trunk lid at the top, more like a normal trunk.

They wouldn't answer many questions to which the answers weren't already available, but Steve did confirm that there will in fact be a gas-only model. The technician said the price would be $28,000-$40,000, "depending on option", but wouldn't say what any of the options would be. Test drives will be available to people on the waiting list "later". The first vehicles should be to the first people on the waiting list by October.

Hi,

Thanks for the new photos! Here's the link:

The hatch will open from the top? Okay, things are evolving, I guess.

Wow, the doors are much larger and they open to a very different angle that before.

It's got a parking brake!

2123,
thanks for the photos. I personally think the new interior is far nicer than the old beige one. I'm not saying it's BMW, but better.

the fin with the camera seems to cast a shadow over the solar cells. my understanding is any shadow messes up the wattage from an array, far more than the percentage of cells being blocked. ie, 2 cells in shade can cut wattage in half. those of you with more knowledge, please elucidate.

and what's the arm clampy thingy between the seats? is it an ipod or phone dock?

hey forum officers, can we get special dispensation to include a URL for new members who post a link to 40 new aptera photos?

Thanks for the photos. Do you know why the wheel cover was being worked on?

I have to say I am quite impressed. I like the look of the new interior. I wonder what the difference is between D1, D2, and D3 on the PRNDL selector. Three speed transmission? Or just power saving modes of drive? I also don't see a display for the "all view" system. If it is only on the center monitor, thats a bit disapointing. I liked the three monitor system they had before. I suppose this is where they made some cuts to save cost and assembly time. A single wide angle camera with a single monitor in the center is ok.

Wow, great photos apt2123h, thanks for posting...

While the bank of panoramic rear view screens are gone, the interior looks way more finished and professional. Seats look sooooo much better. Boy apt2123h I'm surprised they let you grab all these pics! Good job...

That center stack screen just doesn't look big enough to show a wide angle view out the back, so will multiple rear-view screens be a option ($$$) or is that feature dead?

Wow. Lookin' pretty nice.

Well so much for the dream of a 3rd seat. I guess the back area is filled with batteries.

Regarding the fin creating shadows, I presume those cells right up close to the fin are not connected?
