Watched this video about Best Buy selling EVs and there are many shots of an Aptera tearing up the parking lot at the Best Buy corporate campus.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fizCP9hv_58 Am I making a huge link imagining Best Buy being a potential sales/service entity for aptera? Has this been discussed here? Last edited by Dubito : 09-24-2009 at 06:38 PM. |

It is not inconceivable...
Segway has already teamed up with Best Buy in some Northern California stores, for a test program that offers in-house rider training, warranty service and accessories. http://www.flickr.com/photos/niallkennedy/3177270397/ Not sure I would trust Best Buy with a purchase as large as an Aptera... Having the Geek Squad as my go-to guys for an Aptera issue, makes me uncomfortable. I would prefer dealing with a place that was completely knowledgeable and only dealt with the vehicle; as selling and supporting everything else under the sun could be detrimental to the buyer experience.

wow...now that would help get the aptera out to the whole country fast...
i hope they make it so...it would be killer for both best buy and aptera... and they sure did focus a bit on the aptera in that infomercial... sweet find...thanks

as for service...how much does this car really need?? as for software updates, the most likely needed visits, the geek squad should be fine...
the hardest service i see it needing is the freaking tires changed...if the best buy makes a nice spot to change tires on the aptera then i'm sold...

I see your point, but a built-in dealer network instead of Tesla's building it's own show-rooms seems to scale better for Aptera. I don't have particularly good feelings about Best Buy or the Geek Squad, but then again I don't feel all warm and fuzzy thinking about traditional car dealers either. |

I was hoping we could upgrade Aptera firmware from home, if not from the aptera's own internet connection. Personally, I buy tires from a local tire dealer who fixes my flats for free. |

I've certainly never heard anyone mention an Aptera-Best Buy connection before. It'd only be Totally Awesome(TM), though
Tons of exposure, and nationwide retail/service options.Oh, and there were at two 2es in that video.

Also, I'm surprised nobody's mentioned it yet, but: can you just imagine Geek Squad trading out their VW Beetles for 2es?
Heck, even the color scheme is pretty close -- you'd just need black wheel pod covers and a vinyl graphic of the logo.

The Brammo Enertia is being sold at Best Buy (I just got mine on Friday), and that's a real motorcycle... so why not a car. I like the idea. Plus Best Buy has already cut through all the red tape to be classified as a dealer with the DVMs of the various states. It would save Aptera a lot of time not having to setup a dealer network.
